Dead Body Falls Naked Off Cliff

a man visiting Switzerland was hiking in the woods alone
in the heart of a mission to know the great unknown
he discovered a pathway that charmed him to the crazy bone
climbed by the cliffside on a path carved in the stone

the trail was all his own that day
overlooking the village of Champery
he reminisced the paintings of Monet
embracing the view along the way
(the signs said beware but he did not obey)

something terrible happened when he reached the peak
he might have been stupefied by the mountain and its mystique
or maybe it was the altitude that made his willpower weak
for whatever reason this man was compelled to streak

he threw his clothes and fears aside
running the length of the mountainside
barefooted and naked at full stride
the townspeople watched him, horrified

rounding the corner did not go quite as he planned
his momentum guided him at a speed that he could not stand
he continued to haul ass right through the railing and
the trip took him down down down to the Promised Land

the papers read, Dead Body Falls Naked Off Cliff

She Opted For Scuba Diving

She Opted For Scuba Diving

She Opted For Scuba Diving

by Cabe Lindsay

he offered her anything
she opted for scuba diving
he showed her the flippers
she secured their oxygen tanks
they held hands and
jumped off the boat together
underwater her hair swam
his lips blew bubbles
they quietly laughed
trying not to alarm
two sleeping electric eels
he kept an eye out for barracudas
she kept an ear out for sharks
she spotted a seahorse
and a lobster
the size of a cat
she showed him the jellyfish float
he showed her the breast stroke
they climbed coral towers
their bodies lit up
and then darkened again
as lantern fish swam by
they heard dolphins
they hoped to see whales
but they were satisfied
just to be swimming
together

Travel In Your Mind To Mexico

Travel In Your Mind To Mexico

Travel In Your Mind To Mexico

by Cabe Lindsay

pop the cork and let it flow
drink the wine
smoke a bowl
catch a buzz and let it show
travel in your mind to Mexico

adios complexity
buenos dias easy street
margaritas if you agree
in your mind you can do whatever you please

imagine all the friends you'll find
all your buds would be so kind
so shoot tequila
bite the lime
'cause in your mind
you can be wasted all the time

in time you'll miss the friends you know
and you would trade sand for snow
when you grow tired of Mexico
travel in your mind back home

In The Now

In The Now

In The Now

by Cabe Lindsay

I’ve been waiting for the moonlight
to flicker out of sight
and a new moon to come
I’ve been hoping for a new sun
to replace the old one
I’ve been listening for a new song
so I can sing along
I’ve been living for the future

but I’m in the now, now
this music that I hear is coming from me
and I’m singing because I’m satisfied with the now, now
I’m in the now, now

there was a time when I used to wonder
who I will become
Now that I am him, I’m still wondering
I used to wonder if it was too late
to start over again
I was living in the past then

I’m in the now, now
this music that I hear is coming from me
I’m singing because I’m satisfied with the now, now
I’m in the now, now

now I’m not going far or near
I’m staying right here
I’m not going back or forward
I’m going up
now I’m living for the moment
in the present
I’m in the now, now

I’m in the now, now
this music that I hear is coming from me
I’m singing because I’m satisfied with the now, now
I’m in the now, now

Levitation

Levitation

Levitation

by Cabe Lindsay

what do you do
to nurture the bliss
in your life situation
do you heed to the Buddha
advising you to devote some time to meditation
do you close your eyes
and open yourself
to something that promises stimulation
do you help yourself
to an enlightening dosage of inner exploration

what do you see
when you drop infinitely deep
into concentration
does your mind's eye
offer any insightful information

does the vividness of awareness
enliven your in- and exhalation

are you ever awakened
in the stillness
by a profound revelation

in your present-minded here and now
can you feel the liberation
do you recognize the power
in the peace and relaxation

can you hear your heart
when it sings to you
with the realization
that a thoroughly conscious human being
can experience levitation

From The Mud

From The Mud

From The Mud

by Cabe Lindsay

from the mud the lotus blooms

after tumbling from a tree
a fallen apple edified me
with a worm wandering into its core
the apple fell for a reason
and in a distant season
its seed would bestow something more

from the mud the lotus blooms

the worm that I found
taught me there on the ground
what it means to be simple and meek
a purpose was served
in the time I observed
when a bird caught its tail in her beak

from the mud the lotus blooms

I witnessed the wren
showing her next of kin
how to spring from the limb to the sky
the chicks took a chance
I learned how to dance
as I watched them go gracefully by

from the mud the lotus blooms

Potter

Potter

Potter

by Cabe Lindsay

the potter's wheel is restless
with nothing on its surface
when a hand slaps the mud on the skin
like a DJ with an LP
the potter with the clay
turns the wheel and the music begins

the potter's wheel is spinning
and the clay finds itself
placed in the middle of the dance floor
her body is uplifted
by fingertips as tender
as the tide rolling over the shore

his hands run alongside
her pirouetting figure
impressing themselves in the clay
like an ocean of waves
crashing onto a desert
caressing the sand with its sway

the hands of the potter
explore her like water
tracing every curve as they slide down
from the nape of her neck
to the base of her body
touching her deeply inside

the potter's wheel is slowing
and centered on its surface
a finely crafted figure ascends
the hands that are kissing her
delicately lift her
and the music ends

A Diamond Met A Pearl

A Diamond Met A Pearl

A Diamond Met A Pearl

by Cabe Lindsay

a diamond met a pearl
with the kissing of two girls
as two necks interlocked
two jewels talked for the first time

a skirt approached a pair of pants
asked her if she would like to dance
a bellybutton ring felt
the buckle of a leather belt
coming undone

the blending of the two perfumes
graced the room like flower blooms
as the two undressed
two friends connected breast to breast

an ear discovered
the whisper of a lover
and then two soft tongue tips
tasted two new sets of lips

on and on went the seduction
on this night of introductions
and the diamond said goodbye
to the pearl
with a sigh
as the two necks came unlocked
the jewels never talked
the same way again

a trail of smoke
followed every word she spoke
with marijuana breath
she said she loved her to death

a cloud of thoughts drifted
as the listener lifted
her glass to offer cheers
to the absence of fears

they shared the same smile
and wore it for a while
until it was the only thing
they were wearing

the closer they drew
the higher they flew
as if flying on a kite
holding on
holding tight

they caterpillared into
something friends can be open to
this sharing of passion
in such a beautiful fashion
embracing change
and butterflying away

there's more to life than every road you've tripped and every kite you've flown every boat you've flipped every fist you've thrown every stone you've turned every cup you've filled every fire you've burned and every buzz you've killed every hour you've wasted every friend you've missed every smile you've tasted every tongue you've kissed life is more than every heart you've won every baby held every wrong you've done every help you've yelled every curse you've said every lie you've hushed every word you've read and every color brushed if you're dwelling in the past then you are not living you know the past is behind you now but you can be here now be here now

Westward Setting Sun

Westward Setting Sun

Westward Setting Sun

by Cabe Lindsay

above the ocean in a heated-air balloon
his shape was silhouetted clear across the moon
his burner blew out in the wind of a typhoon
the ocean caught him in its crest

with seven broken bones most people could not cope
he was alive and that affirmed that there was hope
he rode the gondola and cut the envelope
his heart was bigger than his chest

Godspeed ahead, he hammered on with no delay
to meet his lover with a daughter on the way
and even though he could not be with them that day
he knew his life was truly blessed

his lady waited for her hero to arrive
the two-week ocean crossing shattered into five
the gal suspected that her man did not survive
he was in heaven now, she guessed

the captain scrambled to secure his makeshift boat
it was a violent struggle just to keep afloat
and all the water could not quench his burning throat
he put his spirit to the test

he would not make it home to make the gal his bride
his thoughts were with her as he slipped into the tide
he would not see his daughter’s face before he died
yet he continued on his quest

the pilot’s lover, she was seeded with a pearl
but complications overtook the baby girl
just as the child was due to enter in the world
she and her mother fell to rest

despite the turning and the falling of the leaves
the tidal waves that turn to nothing in the seas
the joy and peace and the impermanence of these
love is a persevering westward setting sun

Be Well Bee

Be Well Bee

Be Well Bee

by Cabe Lindsay

he was the fuzziest bumblebee
a pollinating king
wild orchids opened up like smiles
whenever he was thirsting
word spread of this phenomenally hairy bee
everything with wings was buzzing
he caught the attention even of the queen
who requested his return to the colony
he floated in coated in yellow
with pollen from antenna to toe
the queen instantly delayed her egg laying
never having seen a bee as shaggy as he

the queen told him of a dangerous journey
suited only for a wildly bushy bee
asking him to deliver pollen
to a flower on a perilous mountain
she explained, a lily blooms at the base of the snowline
this would likely be the last of its kind
unless, of course, the flower could be fertilized
it was the sworn responsibility of the swarm
it would require a miracle and one brave bee
with a freakish pollen-carrying capacity
it would require a death-defying flight to a height
unfathomable for a critter as little as he

the bee sang, I'm open
to every possibility
I'm hoping
things will work out favorably
even if I fail
I believe
I will be well

he zoomed out without hesitation
without knowing the destination
heart knowing what it had to do
brain accepting it could not refuse to comply
his flight blasted long past the sunset
continued in the light of the moon
unthreatened by the challenge that he would not be
turning homeward anytime soon
storm clouds began looming
thunder started blooming
his wings kept pounding
his will was astounding

and he sang, I'm open
to every possibility
I'm hoping
things will work out favorably
even if I fail
I believe
I will be well

he flew, illuminated by lightning
wind blew him faster than he'd ever flown
pollen grains clinging to his mane
holding firmly even as the rains came
rain bomb turned to hail torpedo
firing fast as bullets, so was he, though
when snow fell, he made the mistake of
swerving directly into a flake
wet wings cursed the bumblebee
left him stumbling, sent him tumbling
and on his way to hit the ground, crumbling
his attitude was surprisingly humble

he sang, I'm open
to every possibility
I'm hoping
things will work out favorably
even if I fail
I believe
I will be-
(SMACK!)

he barely survived this breakdown
he broke down crying, joyfully
happy just to be alive
but no, his exoskeleton was pulverized
still, he sensed the presence of angels
wrapping like warm blankets around him
unaware that his flower had found him
reached her neck out and grabbed him
clouds opened to a hot sun morning
with layers of petals unfolding
revealing the insides of an avalanche lily
holding a bee with a heart still beating

be open
to every possibility
be hoping
things will work out favorably
believe
bee-lieve
you will be well
be well, bee
